Six month checkup – Halfway through 2016

2016 is half over, folks.  Did you set some New Year’s Resolutions?  Create a to-do list?  Make some plans, ponder over your dreams?  Well, whatever you wanted to do in 2016, it’s July, so it’s time for your 6-month checkup.

My number one goal for 2016 (and beyond) is to do more exploring.  To me, exploring is so much more than travel.  Exploring includes all kinds of learning, about myself as well as the world around me.

Here’s where my explorations have led me this year:

26 new restaurants
4 days at a Spanish Immersion Family Camp with my daughter
13 books (and part-way through 3 more)
2 new business possibilities
4 concerts/performances
11 nights in 5 different hotels
NFL Draft in Chicago with my teenage son
8 parks, 4 museums, and 3 zoos
3 nights camping
a new clean eating plan that helped me lose 20 pounds
4 online classes
Meeting my birth family
Feeling happier than I have felt in years!

Birth family adoption story
Meeting my new family

My six month checkup has me feeling great!  I’m proud of what I’ve done so far and am definitely looking forward to what lays ahead of me.  Who needs to wait until New Years to set new goals or resolutions?  There’s no better time than right now.

How have you spent the first half of 2016?  What are your plans to explore the rest of 2016?  I’d love to hear about them.

Show me some love

  1. Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
