Minneapolis rated #1

Proud to be a Minnesotan?  You betcha!

But, seriously, this is something to brag about, folks.  The 100 biggest cities in the U.S. were ranked according to who has the best park system.  Minnesota snagged the top TWO SPOTS with The Twin Cities.  And this isn’t a new thing, either.  Last year MPLS and St. Paul tied for first, but this year the younger of the twins, Minneapolis, beat out the capital by a small margin.

Minneapolis River View from Mill City Museum

I’ve visited only a few spots in the regional parks and only a couple of the 160 neighborhood parks.  I already know that I love the areas around Minnehaha Falls and Lake Calhoun.  Thanks to a fun field trip this year, I got to see the Mill City Museum, and we’ve decided it’s worth a repeat visit.  (More to come on our Minnesota Historical Society adventures!)  It sounds like I need to grab the kids and do some exploring in the Cities this summer.  I’ll be heading back to Minneapolisparks.org for some inspiration.  One of the parks I really want to visit is Webber Park, home of the nation’s first public eco-friendly natural pool.  A pool with no chlorine?  Awesome!
